'KILLER clowns' are feared to be making a comeback after police issued guidance saying they were anticipating sightings over the next few months.

A spate of incidents were reported in Britain last year with several sightings also recorded across the pond in America.

Epidemic ... The places creepy clowns were spotted in during the autumn of 2016

The Pennsylvania State Police department issued a community awareness bulletin earlier this week saying they expected sightings as soon as this month.

The notice was issued in anticipation of the film It being released in the USA on September 9 which tells the story of an evil demon who takes the shape of a clown.

The statement read: "It is anticipated that "creepy clown" sightings could be reported starting as soon as September, in part due to the fact that the movie IT will be released in theatres."

It said at least a dozen arrests were made last year in response to the scaremongers who left ordinary people terrified with incidents including chasing people and confronting them in car parks.

The force are encouraging people who see the clowns to report them to their local police authority, reported nj.com.

An example of the threatening prank saw a teenager dress up a clown before trying to scare a pregnant woman.

Michael March said had attempted to pull a prank as a clown but ended up in court after scaring a pregnant woman so much she threw a brick at him (NCJMEDIA)

Michael March. who was 17 at the time, waited for the woman and her partner to walk past a pub car park before stepping out and banging an axe on the ground.

The woman was so frightened she threw a brick at March who claimed in South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court it was a Halloween joke gone wrong.

Sightings were also reported last year in Essex, Wales, Manchester, and Newcastle with a primary school in Merseyside put into lockdown after a man with a kitchen knife in a clown mask was spotted nearby.

Advice from police in the UK about what to do if you encounter a clown is to remain calm and call the authorities.

Speaking last year, assistant chief constable Catherine Hankinson of Greater Manchester Police said: "The safety of people is our upmost priority; we want people to feel safe going about their daily lives.

"It’s important to stress that no-one has been physically harmed and I want to reassure people that we take reports of this nature extremely seriously."

It Is Making It Hard Out There For Real-Life Clowns

It Is Making It Hard Out There For Real-Life Clowns

PHOTO: WARNER BROTHERS.
The remake of Stephen King's It is already scaring viewers with super-creepy previews and eerie photos of Pennywise, the not-so-friendly clown played by Bill Skarsgard. But the film's release has had some unexpected collateral damage, too: According to The Hollywood Reporterreal-life clowns have been taking a hitand losing gigs thanks to the scary association they didn't even ask for.

Scary clowns have had something of a renaissance in the past year. Real-life scary clowns popped up across the country around Halloween of last year. American Horror Storybrought in a creepy clown character, too (who's set to return for the upcoming Cult season). But it all stems from the 1990 made-for-TV It, which many see as the catalyst for the clown-as-serial-killer motif that just won't go away.

But not all clowns are scary. World Clown Association president Pam Moody says that the friendly varieties are getting sidelined thanks to all the attention being thrown over to the not-so-kind versions taking over the pop-culture spotlight. The bad press is leading to clowns losing their jobs and leaving Moody concerned.

"People had school shows and library shows that were canceled," Moody told THR. "That's very unfortunate. The very public we're trying to deliver positive and important messages to aren't getting them."

Moody notes that Pennywise actually has nothing to do with clowning at all, which she sees as a way to educate kids. As a professional clown herself, she uses her character, Sparky the Firefighter Clown, to teach kiddos about safety.

Source: youtube.com

"It all started with the original It," she adds. "That introduced the concept of this character. It's a science-fiction character. It's not a clown and has nothing to do with pro clowning."

While pro clowns everywhere wait to ride out the wave of negative attention that's coming along with It, Moody has released a guide for clowns on the upcoming movie and what it means for modern clowning. Pennywise may be scary-as-hell, but that doesn't mean that every clown is out for blood; some are content just painting kids' faces and making balloon giraffes.

Scary clown who lurked in the woods arrested as police crackdown on creepy costumes

Scary clown who lurked in the woods arrested as police crackdown on creepy costumes

Police in Kentucky, US, warned "Dressing as a clown and driving, walking or standing in public can create a dangerous situation for you and others"

Creepy clown arrested, Middlesboro police department

A man who dressed up as a clown and lurked in a wooded area was arrested in a police crackdown on the creepy costumes.

Police in Kentucky, US, arrested Jonathan Martin, 20, who was charged with wearing a mask in a public place and disorderly conduct in Middlesboro.

He was found crouching among the trees by an apartment complex at 2am.

Local newspaper Polygraph News reported: "Early this morning - Friday September 23, 2016 - at 2:08am 20 year old Jonathon Martin of Middlesboro was booked into the Bell County Detention Center on charges of disorderly conduct 2nd degree, wearing a hood or mask in a public place, and he was served to outstanding bench warrants for non-payment of fines and failure to appear in court.

"He was arrested by Middlesboro Police Lt. Josh Pratt.

"In many parts of the state the law states as follows: "No person shall, while wearing any hood, mask or device whereby a substantial portion of the face is hidden or covered so as to conceal the identity of the wearer, enter, be or appear in any public place within the city."

There has been a surge in reports of people dressing as clowns and luring children into the woods in the States.

Police in Barbourville, Kentucky, said in a statement: "Ladies and gentlemen please take note of the following as we have had several "clown complaints."

"With the current mainstream media and social media coverage of clown sightings clown pranks have created a real concern and risk.

"Dressing as a clown and driving, walking or standing in public can create a dangerous situation for you and others.

"This creates a risk of harm to you, of collisions near roadways and to bystanders and children who become frightened.

"While dressing up is not, in and of itself against the law, doing so in public and thereby creating an unnecessary sense of alarm is illegal.

"Approaching people in a threatening manner and threatening people is illegal."

The police approach has divided opinion on social media.

Kathy Gaytan wrote: "There are children AND grown ups that are genuinely scared of clowns.

"This actually can cause heart attacks to some people. Or at least scar a child for life.

"This is not funny to many people and needs to be stopped. I myself am not afraid of clowns, but in the interest for the clown it's best not to approach me or my grandchildren."

Matt Manes said: "It is not illegal to dress up like a clown in public. Why is everyone freaking out about clowns standing by road signs anyway? This is so dumb.

"If they make it illegal to dress up like a clown because people are afraid then we live in a communist country.

"Let me tell everyone what I have had to tell all my kids at Halloween. It's not real it's just a person in a weird outfit."

ClownTown movie

ClowTown

Source: theclowntownmovie.com

STORY

A group of friends get stranded in a seemingly deserted town and find themselves stalked by a gang of violent psychopaths dressed as clowns.

ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

CLOWNTOWN is the first feature from director Tom Nagel. Writer/Producer Jeff Miller has done nine previous features. Nagel had worked as an actor on two of Miller’s films, JOLLY ROGER: MASSACRE AT CUTTER’S COVE (which Miller created and co-wrote) and THE BURNING DEAD. Miller was impressed with the short films “The Retrieval” and “Relentless” that Tom had directed, and the two decided to team up to make a feature. Tom’s brother, Brian, an accomplished actor, model, and producing partner with his brother, agreed to help produce and play the lead. Friends of the Nagels, Christopher Lawrence Chapman (a filmmaker in his own right) and businessman Ronnie D. Lee, came aboard to help executive produce. The Nagels’ cousin, Ryan Pilz, became Production Designer and First Assistant Director. Ken Stachnik came aboard as Director of Photography.

CLOWNTOWN was shot in May 2015 in Crestline, Cleveland, and Westlake, OH. For the Crestline portion of the shoot, the production based out of Robert Kurtzman’s P13 Entertainment, the noted FX shop that Miller had partnered with for his previous film AXE GIANT: THE WRATH OF PAUL BUNYAN. David “House” Greathouse, a veteran of Syfy’s “Face/Off,” handled the bulk of makeup FX and played one of the killer clowns. Former wrestler Chris Hahn (who played the title role in AXE GIANT) played a menacing brute of a clown. Several other talented actors and FX artists at P13 helped the movie come to fruition.

Stephen King ‘It’ to Be Remade

Stephen King ‘It’ to Be Remade

Author: Morgan Louchen
Date: May 21, 2014
Source: guardianlv.com

Stephen King’s clown slasher film, It, is being remade and revamped in a two-part series. Talented newcomer Cary Fukunaga will be co-writing (along with Chase Palmer) and directing. This horror classic turned the iconic childhood figure of a friendly clown into a child-eating monster.

Stephen King published his bestselling horror novel It in 1986 under Viking Press. After great reviews, It was developed into a TV miniseries aired on ABC. Tommy Lee Wallace directed and co-wrote, along with Stephen King and Lawrence Cohen. The series was a hit and even won an Emmy for its musical score composed by Richard Bellis. The cast included a number of very talented twelve-year-old child stars, and Tim Curry as the killer clown himself.

To some, clowns are extremely scary even when they are not evil, but to most they are funny thespians painted up. Therefore, the idea of a monster clown is very silly, and most movies that portray the concept do an awful job. That is, until Tim Curry’s legendary performance as Pennywise the Dancing Clown. Curry brings a lot of energy to every bizarre character he plays, but Pennywise showed a dark demented side to his acting never before seen. This role could have easily made scary look more like ridiculous, but was flawlessly executed by the seasoned actor. Although fans rave how Curry should stage a comeback with the new films, that most likely will not be the case. This leaves fans eager to see who will be the new face of this classic killer.

Cary Fukunaga definitely has his work cut out for him if he is going to please the crowd. Although Fukunaga has only directed a handful of films, his track record is untarnished. His first big film, Sin Nobre, was a popular 2009 movie released in Mexico. However, he did not come into the limelight until Jane Eyre in 2011. The dark romance film was nominated for an Oscar for its costume design. Since then, he has been working with HBO on their popular True Detective series.

Stephen King’s new “It” remake is already shaping up to be increasingly more violent and bloody than the original. The film follows a group of people who were attacked by Pennywise as children one summer but survived. 30 years later, they return to their hometown to reunite the Losers Club. Pennywise has returned and started taking children again, leaving behind nothing but blood splatters and body parts. Although no one in the group remembers what happened during their encounters with Pennywise, it is up to them to somehow stop him.

From the sounds of the plot, the new It movie could easily be a sequel as opposed to a remake, considering the first movie followed the kids and not the adults. One of the most creepy things about It was that he hurt children, which is one of the few subjects that can still elicit a reaction out of horror movie goers. Horror movies are making a fierce comeback, and Stephen King’s It remake is rumored to be released sometime in 2015.

The Clown Statue (an urban myth)

Clown Statue

Source: urbanlegendsonline.com
Date: SEPTEMBER 23, 2011

This girl was babysitting for some family friends one night, a little boy and a little girl. The parents had a fetish for clowns and had collected clowns from around the world for years, setting aside a room in the house just to put them on display. That night, the children were playing in this very room. Many of the clowns were just statues, and some were life-size, one in particular, was seated in a small child-like rocking chair.
The babysitter started to feel more and more uneasy about this statue throughout the night. She felt as though the eyes were following her, whenever she moved around the room with the children. She decided to call the parents. "I’m so sorry to bother you", she said, "but I was wondering if I could move this clown that you have in the rocking chair, it’s starting to scare the kids and I."
"What clown are you referring to? I don’t recall us having a clown fitting that description. Are you sure its sitting in the rocking chair?" the mother asked hurriedly.
"Yes, I’m sure.” said the girl. "It’s sitting right here, I’m looking at it right now…Why? I know it’s probably very old and I shouldn’t attempt to move it out of the way, but."
"Take the kids and get out of the house, now. The neighbor across the street will let you in. Call me immediately when you get there." and with that, the mother hung up.
Frightened and confused, the babysitter grabbed the kids and ran out. When she and the kids arrived safely at the neighbors, she called and the mother answered. "What’s wrong? Did something happen? Are you all okay?" the girl asked.
"Yes, we are fine, but it’s not us we are worried about, it’s you and the kids. I’m so glad you called–we were afraid this would happen again. We will be there shortly along with the police, I’ll explain everything when we get there", and the mother hung up.
The parents later explained to the girl that for some time, the next-door neighbor had been giving them problems. He was mentally ill, heard voices, the whole bit. On numerous occasions he had snuck into their house and tried to kidnap the children. This time, he dressed up in a clown suit, painted his face, and waited quietly until he had the opportunity to do what he came to do.
The parents had informed the police many times but never had any proof until now about what was happening. They thanked the girl, paid her, and drove her home. [This version of the story has a happy ending, the version in the video hasn't...]

Eli Roth-Produced Clown Gets a Real, Official Trailer

Eli Roth-Produced Clown Gets a Real, Official Trailer

Clown

Back in 2012, news hit that Eli Roth would be producing Clown.  Here we are now in 2014 and an official trailer has hit the web although no release date has been revealed.  Dimension Films is handling the release.

Clown began as a fake trailer directed by Jon Watts.  The trailer garnered Roth's attention and he loved it, coming on board to shepherd the feature film.  Watts directed the feature and Robot and Frank scribe Christopher D. Ford provided the script.

In Clown, a man dresses up as a clown for a birthday celebration and slowly transforms into something hideous.  And honestly?  This movie looks SICK.  Cannot wait.

9 Most Frightening Clowns in Horror Movie History

9 Most Frightening Clowns in Horror Movie History

Author: Jeremy Turner
Source: horror-movies.ca

No matter what people say clowns are pretty scary. With their pale painted faces, huge freakish grins and massive feet it is no wonder that clowns have been so successful in horror movies. These mischievous maniacs can murder their way across the big screen in a way few villains could.

Captain Spaulding [House Of 1000 Corpses & Devil’s Rejects]

He’s creepy, filthy and a jaded sociopath. This malevolent mischief-maker was first seen in House Of 1000 Corpses luring tourists into the Firefly family’s trap for torture and sacrifice. Though his connection to the cult-like family was left ambiguous at first he’s later revealed to be the head of the family. This murderous freak isn’t necessarily as scary as other killer clowns but he’s still pretty disturbing.

9 Most Frightening Clowns in Horror Movie History

Killer Klowns [Killer Klowns From Outer Space]

The Killer Klowns are kind of silly, and that’s to be expected of a cheap ‘80s horror comedy, but their originality and seriously creepy animatronic faces put them ahead of most of the competition as far as frightening clowns go. These freakishly proportioned aliens may kill with cheap gags but their sole purpose is to kill and collect people for food.

They eat people! There’s also the disturbing bit where one of them uses the corpse of a police officer as a ventriloquist’s dummy. This film may just put you off popcorn when you find out what their clown larvae look like…

9 Most Frightening Clowns in Horror Movie History

Horny The Clown [Drive Thru]

The irreverent mascot of the Hella Burger drive through burger joint is a surprisingly scary villain. Hacking and slashing his way through town, this hulking horror is the displaced and vengeful spirit of an accidental manslaughter.

He takes the Freddy Krueger approach of killing his murderers children as a form of vengeance. Killer clowns are scary but throw in the supernatural element and you’ve got something really nasty to work with.

9 Most Frightening Clowns in Horror Movie History

Funny Man [Funny Man]

The Funny Man is a fourth wall breaking demonic jester that loves to torture and torment his victims to death in ways that are reflective of his own twisted sense of humour.

It’s a pretty schlocky horror film from the ‘90s with a bit of a Scooby Doo feel to it but that doesn’t stop the character from being creepy and weird as hell.

9 Most Frightening Clowns in Horror Movie History

Emmet [Scary Or Die]

Okay, so it’s a pretty weak indie horror collection but the best part of it is the 30 min short ‘Clowned’. It’s the story of one man’s transformation from deadbeat to flesh eating were-clown.

After being bitten by a clown at his little brother’s birthday party Emmet begins to change slowly but surely into a monster, eventually his little brother starts looking tasty so in a desperate attempt to save his friends and family he goes after the clown that bit him. While the character isn’t exactly evil, or at least he’s trying not to be, you can’t fault him for being scary as hell.

9 Most Frightening Clowns in Horror Movie History

John Gacy [Gacy]

The scariest thing about this killer clown is that he was real, he’s the guy that the killer clown mythos is based upon and he’s one of America’s most famous serial killers. He killed over 30 people, a large number of them children, and there have been numerous films about him.

The most relentlessly disturbing portrayal is in ‘Gacy’, it’s not a deep film, it doesn’t explore his character, it just relives his crimes. The scariest thing was how close he was to people’s children in his day-to-day job as a party clown.

9 Most Frightening Clowns in Horror Movie History

Gurdy The Clown [100 Tears]

100 Tears is a film that’s strong on gore and weak on story. This killer clown is just an overweight mentally unbalanced guy in a clown costume, that doesn’t stop him being scary though.

Although Gurdy’s outfit looks like something from a costume store, this raging psycho guts and dismembers people by the dozen with his oversized meat-cleaver. He may not be some demonic predator but that doesn’t seem to have stopped him being a brutal and unstoppable killing machine.

9 Most Frightening Clowns in Horror Movie History

Clown Doll [Poltergeist]

This harmless child’s toy becomes instant nightmare fuel when a malevolent spirit possesses it. Forcing the otherwise harmless clown toy to creep up and attack the young boy, Robbie, in his bed.

The clown’s plastic face twists and contorts into a fearsome snarling visage of terror. Clowns may be freaky but toy clowns are something else.

9 Most Frightening Clowns in Horror Movie History

Pennywise The Dancing Clown [IT]

Okay, he’s really a giant spider with guts made of floodlights but as a clown this thing is terrifying (and this is coming from an arachnophobic nerd), he goes from being slightly creepy and out of place to full on nightmare fuel over the course of the film, tearing a child’s arm off, popping up through drains and coming out with creepy stuff like “they all float down here”.

While the body count is pretty low he gets the scares through the creep factor. Plus it’s Tim Curry; if anyone is going to turn something that’s normally harmless into a disturbing nightmare it’s going to be him (I mean that in a good way).

Evil Clown hired for stalking, threats and a pie in the face

Evil Clown hired for stalking, threats and a pie in the face

Source: metro.co.uk

An ‘evil’ clown who stalks and threatens kids is being hired by parents as a birthday treat.

Dominic Deville’s Evil Clown strikes when boys or girls least expect it

Dominic Deville stalks young victims for a week, sending chilling texts, making prank phone calls and setting traps in letterboxes.

He posts notes warning children they are being watched, telling them they will be attacked.

But Deville is not an escaped lunatic or some demonic monster.

He is a birthday treat, hired by mum and dad, and the ‘attack’ involves being splatted in the face with a cake.

‘The child feels more and more that it is being pursued,’ said Deville.

‘The clown’s one and only aim is to smash a cake into the face of his victim, when they least expect it, during the course of seven days.’

If the boy or girl manages to avoid the ‘hit’, they are given the cake as a birthday present. Well, that’s alright then.

The frightening fun can be stopped at any time, which is handy for parents who have second thoughts and don’t fancy the cost of child therapy.

Deville said: ‘The clown will never break into a residence or show up at work. ‘It’s all in fun and if, at any point, the kids get scared or their parents are concerned, we stop right there.

‘But most kids absolutely love being scared senseless.’

Deville set up his Evil Clown service in Lucerne, Switzerland, after being inspired by some of his favourite horror films – possibly including Stephen King’s It and Killer Klowns From Outer Space.

The idea is unlikely to be popular with sufferers of coulrophobia – the irrational (irrational?) fear of clowns.

But Stephen Vaughan of Clowns International, said scary clowns could be as funny as their red-nosed counterparts. ‘I think what Dominic is doing is a great idea,’ he added.

‘Bringing a little bit of life and laughter into kids’ lives is what we are all about.’

Herbaria tea ad

Ad of the Day: Herbaria Tea

Will the world's scariest herbal-tea commercial really calm your nerves?

By Sam Thielman
February 6, 2013, 3:17 PM EST
Source: adweek.com

This new spot for the latest game in EA's Dead Space series really captures the visceral horror of the video-game franchise's sickest, most disgusting … wait, hold on.

I'm sorry, this is an ad for herbal tea.

It plays better pre-spoiled, so watch below. The punch line just seems ridiculous. On the second viewing, however, you can see more clearly what's dragging the hideous clown, the bloated corpse and the ghost down into the murky depths. "Drown your fears," it says, and seems to imply: "And if you don't have any fears, you are welcome to try a few suggestions from our Fear Generation department here at Hungary-based Herbaria."

One of the nice things about European ads is they seem to take for granted that you can get away with a lot more on the air, and so they just go for broke (witness this 1992 winner of the Cannes Grand Prix).
The makeup artists really deserve some kudos for this one. The clown is, of course, the star of this nightmare, but the chainsaw-wielding zombie guy is perfectly put together (or rather, taken apart), and the effect on the ghost is fascinating—how did they do that? CGI? Really good underwater face makeup and a shaved head? I don't know, but I dig.

There is no escape for these evil creatures from the vast plain of water, which ends up being the inside of your teacup. It doesn't exactly make me want tea right this moment, but it does make me want to see if I can substitute tea for Ativan.
